Ol’ King Coal is Just Blowing Smoke!

Published by wind at 11:35 am under Environmental News, Going Green Edit This

An oxymoron is a combination of words that contradict each other, such as turkey ham, calm storm, War on Terror and my new favorite ‘clean coal’!

Ol’ King Coal is pulling another fast one on America! He would like us to believe that clean coal is good for global warming, as this form of technology makes it easier to capture the carbon dioxide and then store it underground!

The truth is that coal is the dirtiest, most expensive and the biggest threat to global warming! The coal industry spends millions on advertising this false reality (another oxymoron) and yet, not one clean coal power plant exists in America!

‘Clean coal’ techniques are risky and well, not very clean! The storage of carbon underground cannot be guaranteed as a safe practice; even low leakage amounts defeat the whole purpose. Coal is a threat to the ecosystem at large, by polluting our waters, devastating whole forests and mountains and the wildlife that resides there.

The reality is: There is no such thing as clean coal and there never will be! We need to spend more time investing in job creation for an alternative source of true clean energy such as wind power, solar power and water power! There are going to be many companies advertising themselves to be ‘green’, ‘environmentally conscious’, ‘clean’ and ‘energy efficient’ during this wave of “it’s cool to be green” times. We need to be aware of the false advertising and remember that not everything that we read is the truth!

Off to have lunch…maybe some Jumbo Shrimp! (Couldn’t resist)
