The Need for Trees
The effects that humans have had on the environment, is a world wide issue. Sometimes it’s difficult to imagine the enormity of the issues that are being placed at our feet. The devastation is affecting every community on every continent!
One such community, Tamil Nadu, is India’s 11th largest state located on the eastern coast of the Southern Indian Peninsula. In the face of Tamil Nadu’s land degradation and deforestation, an organization driven by community involvement, Project GreenHands, stands tall among this battle.
Project GreenHands is a project of the Isha Foundation, a non-religious, non profit organization geared toward all aspects of our well being. Project GreenHands’ goal is to inspire people to understand the need for trees and the vital role that they play in the environment! There are many ways that we can help them with their goal (and ours as well) through volunteer work, newsletters and donations.
Trees are needed in order to decrease the amount of carbon in the air, create healthy soil for the land and (as a bonus) can aid in keeping your home cool for the summer months. One such way you can help with this battle is by starting an annual tree planting tradition within your family. Pick a day of the year, Arbor Day would be a good one, and commit yourself to planting a tree or two annually on that day! Get the whole family involved! By getting our children involved, through education and hands on projects, we can perhaps prepare them for their future vital role in environmental protection!

Great job on your article. I agree with you about the trees. I planted one outside my yard.
